When I thought outside of the box, it was easy for me to come up with a story to support the titles in the series. I wanted to produce a soft texture within the series but with a pencil drawing outline to help the audience understand what they are viewing. I sketched out a few characters and used watercolour as the softening colour effect.
Don’t just use black text, explore with bright colours
Do some more experiments with the typeface & colour, make it stand out
Think about print finishes
Creative process, series branding i.e. stickers, stamps that is consistent throughout series
Link to website should appear on the back

Decrease size of logo, too big and overwhelming
Add layer for barcode, wont scan if on top of bold colours
To help a friend, remove baby blue as it is not appropriate for age group
Add OUP logo on the front
Look at illustrated film for inspiration on landscape style
Experimentation of logo series
These are either too aggressive or are not quite right/suited for the series
The bottom left looks like devil horns
The brand for the series needs to be friendly and age appropriate.

Work on the colouring, there are too many browns, the colours still need to be much more vibrant for this age group. I used poster edges effect and that effect created many black/brown outlines than what I wanted making the whole design look quite dark. Remove any unnecessary textures.

Think more about how you control the saturation of colours to make the parts of the composition come forward or recede.
Need to improve the salience of the titles, they need more visual weight to really pop.
Publishers won’t be keen to place their logos so close to the barcode. Logos always need an exclusion zone. Consider placing the two in separate corners.
The colouring in both covers are much brighter and more connected. The logo fits in well with the space, brings the type and illustration together.
The use of complementary colours, contrasting together is very eye catching.
